West End man dies after mobility scooter collision with car

A 97-year-old man from West End has been killed after a collision between his mobility scooter and a Ford Fiesta on Wide Lane.

A 97-year-old man from West End has been killed after a collision between his mobility scooter and a Ford Fiesta on Wide Lane.

Hampshire police officers would like to speak to the owner of a black Nissan Qashqai who may have witnessed the collision happen.

A spokesperson for the police, said: “We understand this vehicle was directly behind the Ford Fiesta, so may be able to provide a valuable account of what happened. So, if this is you, please get in touch.”

Officers were called Wide Lane after the accident and the rider was taken to Southampton General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The accident happened on May 1 and he has subsequently died in the early hours of Saturday morning, May 4, in hospital.
