Britain’s most popular soprano, Lesley Garrett, will share stories from her life on stage at Theatre Royal Winchester, on Saturday 14 September.
An Audience with Lesley Garrett will see the opera star not only stun theatre-goers with her incomparable voice, but recall behind-the-scenes anecdotes from her long-standing career performing in concert halls across the UK and world; with internationally-renowned companies including the English National Opera and Welsh National Opera; and releasing numerous albums.
Garrett will be accompanied by, and in conversation with, Anna Tilbrook – also a regular performer in Europe’s major concert halls and who coaches for the Royal Opera, in London’s Covent Garden.
Having performed in well-known operas including La Boheme, The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, last year Garrett made her acting debut in a revised version of actor/playwright Patrick Barlow’s play, The Messiah, which also starred popular comedian, Hugh Dennis. She is currently creating another new role in English National Opera’s world premiere of composer, Iain Bell’s opera, Jack the Ripper, at the company’s home at The London Coliseum.
Described as funny and a down-to-earth Northerner, Garrett has become a household name with appearances on TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and Who Do You Think You Are?, This Morning and Loose Women, becoming a classical radio host and performing at major sporting events.
The veteran opera singer and pianist promise an intimate and entertaining evening of performance and witty chat.
