Open Sight in Eastleigh has become one of the first beneficiaries of the Hendy Foundation which was set up to support charities and good causes in the south.
The Hampshire charity has been given £1,000 by Hendy Foundation which chair Norma York would be used to fund a day out for the blind and visually impaired people the charity supports.
‘We help and support all visually impaired people in the Eastleigh Borough and are staffed solely by volunteers,’ said Norma. ‘We run weekly social clubs as well as having at least two outings a year and a Christmas lunch and skittles evening and we will now be able to ask our members what kind of day out they would enjoy with this donation.’
Hendy Foundation chair Rebecca Hendy said the charity provides a vital lifeline to local people and was exactly the kind of charity that the Hendy Foundation is looking to support.
‘Speaking to Norma, it is clear how much this donation means to the members and we look forward to hearing how the donation will be spent.’
Hendy Foundation is a dedicated charity to provide grants to local projects, people and charitable organisations in the areas in which Hendy Group operates.
It provides grants from £500 to £5,000 to organisations in Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Sussex, Kent, Surrey and Devon with funding from Hendy Group which is donating £2 for every retail car it sells which is set to provide up to £50,000 in the first 12 months.
