A wonder goal from Eastleigh academy’s Liam Callaghan was the pick of the bunch as Eastleigh ran out deserved 3-0 winners against Fleet Spurs in the Hampshire Senior Cup second round.

Ben Strevens’ men were on the front foot throughout the first half, Fleet ‘keeper Mark Appleby made two great saves down low to deny Tom Bearwish and the extremely lively Smart.
The deadlock was then broken after 40 minutes, the captain on the night Rendell climbed well to send a headed effort goalward, before Callaghan produced that moment of magic to double the lead moments later.
From just outside the left-hand side of the box, Callaghan’s left foot whipped it with pace goalward, the effort crashing off the top corner of the far-post before it crossed the line.
The Spitfires dominance then resumed, in the 53rd minute Bearwish capitalised on a loose back-pass before squaring it to Smart, who converted into the empty net.
More Eastleigh Academy youngsters entered the fray with a triple substitution, the young Spitfires producing some intricate passing play and looking comfortable.
Eastleigh held firm but couldn’t find another breakthrough, as a comfortable night finished 3-0.
