Naomi House & Jacksplace Fire Walk returns

Due to popular demand, Naomi House & Jacksplace is bringing its Fire Walk event back to the Holiday Inn in Winchester this October.

Following the success of the charity’s February Fire Walk, on Friday 25th October from 6pm, Naomi House & Jacksplace is challenging its bravest supporters to walk over 649 degree hot coals to raise money for the hospices, based in Sutton Scotney near Winchester.

Charlotte Patrick, Events Fundraiser at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

‘We are thrilled to be able to bring this awesome event back to Winchester! The feedback we had from our first group of firewalkers back in February was so brilliant, we couldn’t not do it again. Charity fire walking is a great way to fundraise and will certainly give you a story or two to tell friends and family! We’re hoping to have more than 50 sign ups to the October event, of which the fundraising would be enough to fund more than a month’s worth of expert nursing care to the seriously ill children and young adults at our hospices.

‘Reckon you can beat the heat?! Sign up today for this unique event to support your local hospices!’

Fire walking is the practice of walking barefoot over hot coals or wood. When the fire has burned to red hot embers, it is raked level and prepared for the walk. The sensation of walking over the burning hot coals is described as walking on eggshells or walking on hot sand.

No prior training is required, apart from a short seminar that would take place just before the event, and there is no strenuous physical exercise involved or medical restrictions to take part. Entry is £25 for adults and £15 for children aged 8-15 years.
