Eastleigh draw 1-1 away to Woking

The Spitfires Scott Rendell denied his former club Woking a first National League win in 10 games by striking deep into added time to rescue a 1-1 draw for Eastleigh yesterday.

The Cards thought they had won it in the fifth of 15 minutes of additional time following an injury when Jamar Loza finally beat an inspired Max Stryjek.

But there was still time for Rendell to strike, heading home three minutes later to secure a point for the visitors.

Stryjek kept out an early effort from Max Kretzschmar and after Craig Ross tipped over a Danny Hollands effort at the other end, the keeper held a Dave Tarpey free-kick.

Kretzschmar hit the crossbar early in the second half and was then again denied by Stryjek, who also stopped Loza from scoring in an excellent double save.

Both sides were briefly sent back to the changing rooms in the 75th minute following a serious injury for Eastleigh defender Rob Atkinson, who was carried off on a stretcher, before the late drama.

The Spitfires take on Dover Athletic Away on Tuesday night.
