Ebbsfleet moved off the bottom of the National League table after drawing 1-1 with 10-man Eastleigh but missed two penalties that cost them all three points at The Silverlake Stadium in front of 1,715 spectators.

The visitors opened the scoring after five minutes when Myles Weston swept home from 10 yards.

Ben Strevens’ Spitfires levelled things up in the 39th minute when Scott Rendell bundled in after Tyrone Barnett had beaten the offside trap.

Ebbsfleet were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute but Josh Umerah fired over.

Rendell had a goal ruled out for offside before Joe Partington was sent off for fouling Alfie Egan in the box.

Frankie Sutherland’s resulting penalty was saved and the points were shared.

Eastleigh now have two cup games, on in the FA Cup on Tuesday away to Crewe with the other being at home to Yate on Saturday.
