Relegation threatened Wrexham picked up a welcome 2-0 victory over Ben Strevens’ Eastleigh to move off the bottom of the National League at The Silverlake Stadium in front of 1,542 fans.
Wrexham led on 16 minutes when Omari Patrick finished from close range after James Jennings’ precise cross.
Patrick then calmly converted on 41 minutes after Bobby Grant’s clever pass sent him clean through on goal.
Despite their fifth win of the season Wrexham are 21st and remain in the relegation zone, while Eastleigh slip to 14th on goal difference.
The Spitfires play Ebbsfleet United on Saturday before play Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday in the FA Cup – the winner of which will play Champshionship side Barnsley in the third round.
