Third-placed Bromley dropped points at home and missed the chance to close the gap on National League leaders Barrow as they were beaten 3-2 by Ben Strevens’ Eastleigh.
Barrow’s game against Solihull Moors was postponed, meaning Bromley could have moved level on points, but this defeat and second-placed Yeovil’s draw at AFC Fylde left them in third.
Bromley took the lead in the 19th minute after a brilliant piece of skill by Luke Coulson, who played in Michael Cheek, and the former Ebbsfleet striker touched the ball past an Eastleigh defender before slotting it between the goalkeeper’s legs.
However, Eastleigh claimed a strange equaliser in the 31st minute when defender Dave Winfield headed back to his goalkeeper from the edge of the box only for it to roll past Ryan Huddart for an own-goal.
The Spitfires then took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Tyrone Barnett slotted past Huddart in first-half stoppage time.
Andrew Boyce headed in Eastleigh’s third goal in the 51st minute to wrap up the win, with Andre Coker’s stoppage-time goal for Bromley was merely a consolation.
Eastleigh take on Aldershot at home on Boxing Day, 26th December at 3pm.
