Customers can support the charity through their purchases - the Trust provides security advice and solutions to vulnerable people free of charge.
Eastleigh based charity the Blue Lamp Trust has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund.
The charity which is supported by Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire and Rescue, runs the ‘Bobby Scheme’ which provides home security and safety assistance to the elderly and vulnerable in the community – completely free of charge – helping them to feel safe in their homes.
Whenever a Co-op member buys selected products or services from the Co-op they earn a five per cent reward for themselves, with a further one per cent for a local cause. This year, until October, members can choose to support The Blue Lamp Trust by going online to www.coop.co.uk/membership.
The Blue Lamp Trust said in a letter to Eastleigh News:
“We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in the Chandlers Ford and Eastleigh Area and really hope that people will visit the website and choose to support The Blue Lamp Trust.”
The Trust added:
“Any member of the public who believes that they, or a member of their family, fit the criteria for a home visit by a Bobby Scheme fitter can contact the charity at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phoning 0300 777 0157.”
