Eastleigh manager Ben Strevens has addressed Spitfires fans in a statement on the official website following the Vanarama National League’s decision to suspend all football last week due to the Covid-19.
Good Day Spitfires fans,
I just wanted to give you a brief update on the playing squad.
The players trained on Monday 16th preparing for the Dover game but we found out after training that the season was being put on hold so we made the decision for the boys not to come in and train as a group until 23/3 but with events in the last 24 hours this how now been extended until 30/3.
We will continue to assess this date in line with information we get.
The players have been sent a program to follow the best they can to workout at home to stay fit for when we all hope the season recommences.
I said it on Saturday most of the time we think football is life and death but times like these make you realise this is not the case.
The football club is being run by fantastic people who care for its players, staff and, most importantly, you fans.
The club hopes you are all safe and following the country’s guidelines.
Please take care of yourselves and your families and we all look forward to when the time is right being back at the Silverlake together.
I will try to update you the best I can in the coming weeks.
