Eastern Airways take on more Southampton routes following Flybe collapse. Flights to Newcastle start Wednesday,
Eastern Airways have commenced a new service from Southampton Airport with flights to Teeside – one of 11 new routes the airline is launching today.(Monday 9 March.)
The airline joins Loganair in moving quickly to plug the gap in Southampton Airports flight schedules following the collapse of Flybe last week. Since then Eastern Airways has honoured tickets on the Flybe services that it operated as a franchise and will continue to do so until the end of Tuesday 10 March “as recognition of customers valued and continued support.”
Eastern Airways has also announced they will be taking on further former Flybe routes. The Southampton-Manchester and Southampton-Newcastle will both begin initially with twice daily services, starting this Wednesday 1(1 March).
A daily through service from Southampton to Aberdeen will also commence on 27 April 2020 giving Eastern Airways five routes from Southampton from April.The airline will base aircraft at Southampton Airport and intends over time to have up to five aircraft based there.
