Works by the Borough Council to improve the play area at Lawn Road in Boyatt Wood, Eastleigh mean it will be temporarily closed from Monday 14 September.
Families in the Lawn Road area will not be able to use the playground for about four weeks as phase one of the enhancement work takes place. This is the first phase in the project and will be focusing on forming new mounds which will make the play area more exciting and attractive.
Once the first phase is complete the next step will occur in the spring to allow the mounds to have time to settle prior to the play equipment being installed. This will commence in 2021.
Cabinet Member for Social Policy and Chair of ELAC, Councillor Tina Campbell, said:
‘We’re so pleased to be able to get back to working on the Lawn Road site to improve the area for local families following the countrywide lockdown. Play areas like this are really important for helping children to keep active and stay fit and healthy and these enhancements will create a fun and engaging space for local children to play.’
Access for the work will be from the St Lawrence Road end of the play area and residents are being advised that vehicles will be moving around the area as the work is carried out.
