Scott Fraser scored the winning penalty as Milton Keynes won a shootout 4-3 to narrowly avoid an FA Cup upset against National League side Eastleigh.
The League One club were held to a goalless draw after extra time but Fraser swept home the visitors’ fifth penalty after Tom Bearwish had smashed Eastleigh’s final kick against the bar.
It protected Milton Keynes’ record of having never lost to non-league opponents in the FA Cup and sent them through to the second round for the first time in three seasons.
Russell Martin’s side could easily have lost in normal time though had Ben House not spurned a great chance for Eastleigh, dragging his right-foot shot wide after being played through on goal and if Alex Wynter buried his header from close range. Watch highlights from BBC here.
