A chance to ‘shape your community’

Eastleigh council has launched a “shaping your community” survey to give local people a chance to feedback on what their planning priorities are for the Borough.

While the council continues to work on collecting evidence for the emerging local plan they say the survey will help them gain a better understanding of what local people value and feel is most important to them within the existing community and the new communities which will develop over the coming years.

The survey forms part of the local plan engagement process which, say the council, will involve a wide range of audiences from in and around the borough including residents, businesses, local groups, agencies, organisations and other local councils.

These results will be collated and considered alongside the wider plan.

In a statement Council Leader Keith House said:

“We want to find out what local people think are important to them in their communities.  This is not just about housing, but about roads and traffic, schools and doctors, parks and open spaces, jobs and more. It’s important that local people get involved in helping to shape their community and we encourage them to give us their views.”

A council spokesman told Eastleigh News that the survey is open to anyone who has an interest in the Borough – not just residents.

There will also be an opportunity to provide views on the details of the long awaited local plan during the formal consultation period in 2018.
