The Botleigh Grange Hotel and Spa has been to sold to an unnamed overseas buyer for an undisclosed sum.

The 55 bedroom Hedge End hotel – a popular wedding venue – closed in January after the owners went into administration forcing Eastleigh Borough Council to relocate the Planning Inspector’s  examination of the Local Plan at short notice.

Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group, which was handling the administration, has confirmed that a deal had been agreed with an “international hotelier.”

The hotel blamed negative local press surrounding its food hygiene rating as a factor in it’s demise after it was awarded a one out of five food hygiene rating in November.

In a press release Neil Bennett, director at Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group, said:

“The property has attracted a high level of interest, as expected, and the buyer is an extremely experienced hotelier from overseas. Botleigh Grange is currently being surveyed to establish the necessary work required before the hotel can be opened.”
