Who doesn’t love a true murder mystery with an all-female cast and a very thrilling show?
The Ballad of Maria Marten – by Beth Flintoff has arrived at the Theatre Royal Winchester this week! (5th-9th October 2021) – Reviewed by Jodie Pfisterer.
A storyline that had the audience hooked from the beginning, full of mystery and lots of unexpected turns – this play was written with such thought and even had some humour thrown into it as well!
As people around the area rushed to see the thriller play about the true murder mystery of Maria Marten in 1827, we were lucky enough to catch the opening show last night and experience it for ourselves and what a show it was!
The show explains the true story of what exactly happened to Maria Marten all those years ago and it was great to be back at the theatre after such a long break and it definitely didn’t disappoint!
It was great to see the female actors play different parts and act every part so well. If the amazing acting wasn’t enough, there were also some heart-warming singing and catchy songs in there as well to get you more in the theatre mood.
The staff at Theatre Royal Winchester were very friendly and more than happy to assist us with anything we needed. They were all wearing masks to protect the public and were very polite in explaining directions / assisting with other’s needs.
The theatre is a small but very accessible area where everyone was sat two seats apart to give that extra bit of security during the current circumstances.
I cannot recommend this show enough, it had everything you’d want for your theatre experience and was the perfect opportunity to learn and educate yourself about the dreadful stories that used to happen hundreds of years ago!
We’d like to thank all the staff & actors from last night for such a thrilling show and
Experience and we can’t wait to come back and watch more shows!
