Children and staff at local nursery, Kingsmead Day Nursery took part in a Safari Summer Week fundraiser last week and raised £600 for the Marwell Wildlife charity, 240% over their target of £250!
Kingsmead created the Safari Summer Week to support the staff and animals at Marwell Zoo following the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic
During the week, the children dressed up as their favourite animals for an animal parade and picnic, took part in a totally roarsome cake sale and got competitive at their Safari Sports Day where they were joined by a very special guest! Lenny the Lemur from Marwell Zoo paid the children a visit to give them each a medal to thank them for all of their hard fundraising work.
Lisa Reynolds, Head of Supporter Development at Marwell Wildlife said:
‘The children and staff at Kingsmead Day Nursery made a fantastic effort during their Safari Summer Week and we’re so grateful for the funds they have raised. It was a lovely experience cheering them on at their sports day and I hope they all are very proud of themselves!
‘Thank you Kingsmead Day Nursery for your loyal support, Marwell simply couldn’t do what we do without you!’
Emily Hancock, Managing Director of Kingsmead Day Nursery said:
‘We have had a brilliant Safari Summer Week raising money for Marwell Zoo. The children loved every minute of it, especially meeting Lenny the Lemur.
‘We’d like to thank everyone who has donated and spurred the children on during the week, we really appreciate it.’
