With the easing of lockdown restrictions and the prospect of more Brits holidaying in the UK this year local hoteliers are actively looking for staff. The Southampton Region Hoteliers Association are reporting vacancies in Eastleigh, Southampton and Winchester. Currently there 11 vacancies alone at the Hilton Ageas Bowl.
During 2020, despite the Government’s furlough scheme, 660,000 hospitality jobs were lost across the UK (according to the ONS) and while for many years European workers have filled hospitality roles, because of travel restrictions and Brexit, fewer EU workers have been able to return to work in hotels and hospitality venues are having to recruit locally.
Chair of the Southampton Region Hoteliers Association, Nathan Chart said:
“The reopening of leisure facilities and hospitality is not only great for our guests, but it’s a turning point for employment in hospitality. Hotels and venues are recruiting and with the British staycation set to be at an all time high, we look forward to many more job opportunities opening up.”
Current full and part time job opportunities in the area include managers, supervisors, pastry and chef de partie vacancies, bar and waiting staff, housekeeping and night staff, front of house, guest experience and events roles and cleaners and spa positions. Many offer on the job training and career development opportunities.
