Spitfires hope to tame Dragons

Could Barfoot be back?

Ian Baird’s Spitfires play Basingstoke away today in the Blue Square Bet South. The Spitfires will be in high spirits after a very pleasing 2-2 draw away to fourth placed Ebbsfleet United on Tuesday.

However tenth placed Basingstoke will not be in the best of moods after a 4-0 drumming on Monday away to Chelmsford.

However Basingtoke’s last home game was against Dover Athletic (level on points with Eastleigh) and they lost 3-2.

The Spitfires have the second best defence in the league but with Warren Goodhind and Ross Bottomley ruled out for tomorrow’s game, things could be different.

Eastleigh striker Richard Gillespie is in doubt of playing but there is good news as Gareth Barfoothas been on good course to make a speedy recovery and he might start for The Spitfires -but he will have get past Jason Matthews first, who has been making some good saves.

The last time Eastleigh played Basingstoke was four months ago when The Spitfires lost 0-1.

However last season Eastleigh scored nine goals past Basingstoke over three games and conceded only one goal.
