Spitfires meet Staines today

Sam Wilson is training with Fulham

Ian Baird’s Spitfires play Staines Town in the Blue Square Bet South at The Silverlake Stadium today.

The Swans sit one place above Eastleigh in 18th place and like Eastleigh they have conceded two goals away in their last meeting with Dartford.

Eastleigh lost 2-0 away to Sutton United on Tuesday and to really rub it in – former Spitfire Tony Taggart scored his first goal of the season for Sutton United against his former club.

The Swans last win was last Saturday when they won 4-1 with former Spitfire loanee Mark Nwokeji who rounded of the scoring for them on that occasion.

The last time these two teams met was Wheatsheaf Park where The Spitfires thrashed Staines 0-5 with Jamie Slabber scoring four in the first half and (now Basingstoke Town player) Shaun McAuley made it five for Eastleigh.

However the last times these two teams met at The Silverlake Stadium,The Swans pulled off a 1-4 win with captain Tommy Jordan scoring the only goal for The Spitfires on that occasion.

This is a big game for Eastleigh so roar on The Spitfires at The Silverlake Stadium so..

In other news…

Sam Wilson has been offered a training spot at Fulham, Eastleigh director of football Dave Malone said on the fans forum:

“The Club are pleased to confirm that after enquiries from several League Clubs, we have agreed with Premiership Team Fulham FC to allow Sam Wilson to train with them next week.

Obviously Fulham may be interested in signing the player, but negotiations (if applicable), will not be entered into until after next week.

Sam will be in our squad for the home game with Staines on Saturday.”

Cinderford Town beat Merthyr Tydfil in the FA CUP 2-0 so the Foresters will travel to The Silverlake Stadium next Saturday for the FA CUP 2nd Round Qualifying.
