Eastleigh have signed midfielder Tom Whelan, on a permanent basis.
The 25-year-old midfielder joins the Spitfires following his departure from National League rivals, Chesterfield.
Whelan enjoyed a successful 2020/21 campaign with the Spireites, after joining them in January from Weymouth.
He scored eight goals in 34 games across both clubs, with five of those strikes coming in 27 games for Chesterfield as he played a key part in their push to the playoffs.
Commenting on making his move to the Silverlake, Whelan said;
‘It feels good, it feels like there’s a good environment here, I just want the season to get going so we can kick on.’
Eastleigh manager, Ben Strevens, shared his thoughts on his sixth summer signing:
‘I’m glad we’ve managed to bring Tom in, it was a deal that took a little while to complete but now he’s arrived it’s already clear to see the quality he will bring to us”
‘He had a very good season last year, and I’m sure he can kick on even more with us now.’
