Farage: Goodbye Nick!

Nigel Farage sang ‘goodbye’ to the Lib Dems at the South East Euro election declaration at Southampton Guildhall on Sunday which saw Ukip come first both nationally and regionally while the Lib Dems lost all but one of their MEPs and were outpolled by the Green Party.

    Seems that most of Europe are saying that they don’t want a European Super state – unfortunately they are having to resort to voting for right wing parties to get the message through. Here in the UK, Maastricht and Lisbon have both come and gone without any democratic choice for the British people – Major and then Blair didn’t have the moral courage to allow us a say. the last vote was in 1975 and that was on the EEC and not the EU. You’d have to be over 57 now to have voted back then – which is an absolute mockery of democracy. Labour and Tory are now paying the price for their past cowardice, the lib dems are just collateral damage.
    The Greens were ignored by the media (despite having an MP and numerous cllrs around the country), but they too were offering a referendum.

    An accurate assessment Suart.

    I voted in 1975 to stay in something called the “EEC”. I was assured it was not a European superstate in the making but a free trade area which would benefit British workers.

    Of course I could have read the Rome Treaty and then it would have been obvious they were lying to us. But I trusted the government and the government took us in.

    Had they told me that within a few decades, the thing would change its name to the European Union, with its own national anthem, army, police force, EU Arrest Warrant (which enables any citizen of any EU State except Germany, to be extradited to any other EU country without a scrap of prima facie evidence), its own bank, currency, parliament, legislature, flag, foreign ambassador, navy, and EU elections … had they told me all that, would I have voted to stay in? The hell I would!

    Rest assured Sue, if the EU has anything to do with TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) which it does because it is one of the parties involved, then the whole thing stinks.

    TTIP = more globalism.

    I like what George Monbiot says about TTIP. Monbiot can be irritating at times but he is very anti-globalist which gets him a gold star in my book. Have you read “Captive State” by Monbiot? Worth a read.
