Coombs off to flying start

Four time county finalist and 2009 southern counties open class finalist Mark ‘Kid Kurylak’ Coombs made a flying start to his professional boxing career last Saturday at the Fleming Park Leisure centre in Eastleigh after a stunning third round knock out victory over Scunthorpes’s Davey Jones on his pro debut.

After a successful career as an amateur it was no surprise when Coombs turned professional earlier this year, signing a management deal with London based promoter Mickey Helliet who manages over forty boxers including flyweight sensation Ashley Sexton and Mike Tyson conqueror Danny Williams.

Coombs who was born in Truro, Cornwall now and now trains in Portsmouth with Coach Michael Ballingall has a good understanding of the hard work and dedication required:
“now that I’ve signed as a professional I realise its going to take a lot of committment which I am prepared to give. I have a lot to learn but have got off to a good start and I am really looking forward to the next steps in my boxing career.”
